Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah during his visit to Clifton Park to commemorate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities.
The event featured an inspiring talent show and exhibition, showcasing the creativity and potential of differently-abled individuals.
The Chief Minister emphasised his government’s commitment to creating an inclusive society, saying, “This day serves as a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and contributions of persons with disabilities, while reaffirming our shared responsibility to foster a society where everyone can thrive with dignity and equality.”
He highlighted the government’s initiatives to empower persons with disabilities, including Vocational training programs tailored to individual abilities and interests, Accessibility enhancements in public spaces, transportation, and educational institutions, Public awareness campaigns to combat stigma and discrimination, Collaborations with NGOs and organizations dedicated to disability advocacy and support.
The Chief Minister praised the talent displayed at the exhibition, noting that the performances and creations challenged stereotypes and demonstrated the limitless potential of differently-abled individuals. “Disability is not a limitation but a unique strength when coupled with opportunity, support, and determination,” he said.
He also acknowledged the vital role of families, educators, and advocates in supporting persons with disabilities, commending their dedication and impact.
Murad Shah concluded with a call to action, urging the community to champion inclusivity and build a Sindh where persons with disabilities are leaders and changemakers. “Together, we can ensure that no one is left behind and create a world that is truly inclusive, equitable, and empowering for everyone,” he said.
The event, attended by distinguished guests, families, and advocates, was organised to celebrate achievements and promote awareness about the rights and capabilities of persons with disabilities.
Separately, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated the Prof. Hashmat Lodi Youth Development Center at Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), which is dedicated to empowering the youth with opportunities for education, employment, and personal development.
Addressing the ceremony, the Chief Minister lauded SMIU’s rich legacy as the alma mater of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and other national luminaries. He commended the university’s 140-year-long commitment to excellence in education and its role in shaping visionary leaders, freedom fighters, and scholars.
The inauguration event was attended by Chairman HEC Prof Tariq Rafi, Vice Chancellor NED Dr Hashmat Lodhi, Vice Chancellor SMiU Dr Mujeeb Sehrai, Secretary U&B Abbas Baloch, Secretary HEC Moin Khan, Haji Hanif Tayab and others.
The Chief Minister paid tribute to the late Prof. Hashmat Lodi, highlighting his lifelong dedication to education, his contributions to academic excellence, and his achievements as a pioneering quizmaster, athlete, and media personality. “Prof. Lodi’s legacy will inspire generations to come, and this youth development centre stands as a testament to his vision and values,” the Chief Minister said.
Mr Shah praised Vice Chancellor Dr Mujeebuddin Sahrai for SMIU’s remarkable progress, including a 200 per cent increase in student enrollment in the last three years, the establishment of a Hi-tech computer lab, an AI lab, and the Allama I.I. Kazi Library, as well as hosting 11 international conferences.
